Flaming wieners

Bought some lovely bratwursts yesterday. Threw them on the grill last night. Injected them with a bit o' Ballard Bitters first to give them a nice beer undertone.

WARNING:

Beer contains alcohol.

Alcohol is flammable.

When beer boils inside a sausage casing, and then sprays out the injection hole in a fine mist, it becomes *highly* flammable.

I blew up my wiener.

Thank you, thank you... and for my next trick, I shall attempt to make this chicken breast into an incendiary rocket...

I don't know why that amuses me so much, but it does. That's hysterical. :)

I hope no one was hurt by hot flaming weenie shrapnel...

Naw, the grill was closed. :)

I didn't even realize what had happened at first. I just saw this charred brat in there, and thought "Well dear god, *that's* a hot spot on the grill...", but then when I grabbed another one with the tongs and rolled it, it started spurting out this HOT liquid from the puncture hole... that then ignited.

Obviously, Ballard Bitter basted brat bombs should be handled with extreme caution by the feeble minded such as myself.

I keep forgetting

I tend to think that beer doesn't contain enough alcohol (when compared with the water level) to be flammable. I keep forgetting that that is true only of American Generic Brew, not true of most of what my friends drink :).

What do I know, I don't drink the stuff :).

Normally it doesn't, but when you heat it into a gaseous state, and then have it jet out in a fine stream into flames... foomp.

In retrospect, it's obvious what happened. :)

And even more obvious that it needs to be experimented with more. ;)

Just don't damage any of your soft bits. Leah would be upset :).

Please, please, PLEASE do this again, this time with cameras rolling so that we can all see the results. Please?

Yeah!

And come to think of it, wasn't it you who used to tell stories about peeling the M-80's out of the deer-scaring-shotgun-shells and blowing things up with them? I vaguely recall tales of a pop can with gasoline...

Damn, I knew that was going to come back and bite me on the butt one day... (Rorschach always said I should pen Vol 3 of The Anarchist's Cookbook...)

I didn't think of taking a picture of the carnage until after the evidence was disposed of. :/

So did you eat them? Were they good?
