Over at the Panasonic site, looking at plasma sets (still).
They have the normal table of sets, with the handy-dandy 'Compare' checkboxes. So I check a couple, and hit the trusty old 'Compare these' button, and...
"We are sorry, but the units you have selected have different attributes and cannot be compared."
Uh... isn't that kind of exactly *when* I want to compare things?
Oy.

The container for the thing contained
Date: 2008-05-20 05:35 pm (UTC)It's like if you tried to compare the Wangs of Joseph and Martha.
Because Joe has a Packard-Bell; what were *you* thinking?
On the bright side, you are looking at the correct maker--the Panasonic plasmas have been getting better reviews than their competition by a pretty wide margin for at least the last six years (because six years ago is when I got mine, with which I am still pretty darned happy, though I'd buy an HD model today rather than the ED model I bought then).
I found this a useful site, in case you haven't found it yet:

Re: The container for the thing contained
Date: 2008-05-21 01:53 am (UTC)Would you believe that a primary concern for not buying one right now is the 600+W energy usage/conversion to heat in our little top floor, no AC, humid summer locale apartment?

I straight up ignore the Pioneer units--they are lovely and wonderful, but they are not three-or-four-times-as-expensive lovely and wonderful.
Yeah, ours is a noticeable source of heat as well, though not a patch on the three-computer (or four if I'm working with the laptop) 140-square-foot office upstairs.
