So after an extremely long, tiring, frustrating day, I get back to the town my hotel is in after 11, and everything but Wal*Mart is closed. Everything. I haven't had dinner. All I can think about is how good warm food is going to be, and I'm eating a microwaved TV dinner. Okay, I can deal.

But for some UNKNOWN GODDAMNED REASON, the cleaning crew decided that today would be a good day to turn the AC in my room on full fucking blast. About 55 deg in here, if I'm lucky. Already called down the front desk, and they were mildly apologetic.

I'd love to get ahold of the idiot that did this and ask what they hell they were thinking.

Well, we found a place, finally. Signed the lease and everything.

Quick rundown, pics to come later...

1100sq ft, the entire 3rd floor of a painted lady Victorian house in Ossining, NY. It overlooks the Hudson, and since we have windows on all four sides, the views are kinda nice. Downside is, the windows are a mite small, but they *do* open, so cross-breezes will be nice in the summer, assisted by the ceiling fans. Hardwood floors, new gas range, and it's all been spruced up nicely. Unfortunately, there's no washer/dryer in the unit, or a dishwasher. :/ (3rd floor of a historic wood building + water leaks = baaaaad.) So, laundromat or a laundry service are options. It has a nice porch out front though, with comfy chairs and a table, for enjoying warm evenings.

I'm bummed that we won't have a yard for Bob*, but this is just for a year. The landlord lives on the first floor, and he and his wife are Portuguese, and extremely nice.

Woot for having a new home.

*Her second biopsy results came back, and they're negative for cancer again - looks like she has FORL instead, which while annoying, isn't life-threatening. We just need to stay on top of her tooth health a little more closely, and the impact can be minimized.

I made some measurements of the new place today and whipped up a blueprint so [livejournal.com profile] ginkgo could actually get a feel for where she's going to be living. Pictures to follow at some point.
