Spoke with Grandpa on the phone today... well, it was rather a monologue, but I was told that his facial expressions indicated he heard everything I said.

It was much harder than I thought it would be, saying goodbye.

I told him that I loved him, that I thanked him for making a difference in my life, that we would be okay, and to go with my love.

A final "I love you, Grandpa" and he drifted off to sleep.

I need to finish this paper so I can fly up there.

Back to work.
