Biopsy results for the cat are in, apparently at this time they could find no cancerous cells, and the running diagnosis is that it is a freakishly contained and localized massive infection that actually destroyed the bone. So, continue the antibiotics for now and see how she does in a few days with a followup.

I think she dodged a bullet on this one. Or two.

Infection degrading bone is not so uncommon. I've known people who've lost limbs because of it... a broken leg that got infected is one case I'm aware of. I'm glad it's not cancer and that you're all making progress.

Thanks. :) Yeah, the freaky part was apparently that it hadn't spread anywhere else - normally in a case where it causes that level of destruction of the bone (the X-ray was nasty looking), sepsis et al set in and you have systemic infections. It stayed contained for some bizarre reason, and we got to it in time. Very happy about that.
