Um, cat help please?
Jan. 5th, 2006 11:10 pmTonight I went to brush my cat's teeth. Bob (the cat) has been woefully neglected by me for a couple of months now, and something really fucked up is going on in her mouth. I pulled back her lip, and about freaked out at the MASSIVE RED INFLAMMATION around her right canine. Feline. Whatever. FANG. Like, huge. With a little whitish dot. I've had this before, and it's nasty gingivitis. Immediate guilt on my part for not taking care of her. (So really, don't add to it, please.) All I know is that it wasn't there two weeks ago.
Then I notice something... else.
For a couple of months, we've been calling her Fang, because her right fang has been sticking out of her lip a bit, just peeking out from time to time. Figured it was just her face changing a bit from aging.
The inflamed gum wasn't covering any more of her tooth than the other one was, when I pulled it back. Then I pulled back both at the same time. The reason it isn't covering any more is because the *entire tooth* is protruding more. Like 1/6-1/4". It's just that much longer than the one on the left. And it used to match.
Uh... bone growth? Anyone have any ideas?
Obviously, I'm going to be making an appt ASAFP, but it's a 45 minute trip in the cat carrier each way, and she's recently had to have Problem Patient put on her chart, so I try and minimize the trips, but... um... yeesh?
I brushed her teeth, and lightly ran the brush across the inflamed area - and she didn't mind. (Well, not any more than me messing anywhere else in her mouth.) Ran it across a little harder. No reaction. I don't think it's really all that sore, which surprises me.
Really... any ideas *OTHER* than get her to the vet immediately?

Did OJ's defense need proof? No!
Did McCarthy need proof? No!
It's not what you can prove, it's what you can get away with in blame. ;)
