Back around last November, I wanted an iPhone. (Duh.) I'd held out past the early-adopter stage, and was looking at a Xmas gift for myself and [livejournal.com profile] ginkgo. [livejournal.com profile] ginkgo rightfully pointed out that I was just starting on a new Major Project, and I really probably didn't need Yet Another Distraction for my ferret brain to play with, and wouldn't it be better to buy myself one as a reward for finishing the Major Project? I agreed.

Well, the Major Project that was supposed to take about 3-5 months took 11. (Yeeeeeeah, no real shock there, huh?)

By that time the 3G had come out. Woot! Project done, I'm ready to get two iPhones, and... "Well, I don't really think I need an iPhone."

Buh-wha?

I spent three weeks trying to convince [livejournal.com profile] ginkgo that she wanted an iPhone. 'Need'? No. 'Want'? Maybe not. But the price difference per month for 1 vs. 2 of the buggers was not that much, given the plan we'd selected. I thought the additional amount was well worth the GPS, the maps, etc, etc, etc. Nope, no budging.

(Why didn't I just go get myself an iPhone you ask? Both phones were with Verizon, on a family plan in [livejournal.com profile] ginkgo's name. I wasn't about to co-opt her authority. :) )

Turns out she'd been pulling my leg the entire time, and was waiting to see how long it would take before I'd just crack. (*mwah* love ya, hon.)

But I can tell you the exact moment that it no longer was fun for her... I saw it on her face. We were in Wenatchee, heading out from the hotel to the funeral, with just enough time to get there, when Mother Dear asked...

"Does anyone know how to get to the church?"

I swear, you could *hear* [livejournal.com profile] ginkgo's teasing resolve shatter.
