kickahaTonight was more poker, complete with more f*cked up variants.
Last time, as you may recall, I added a bizarre twist. What I didn't say was that another variation got created that night.
One of the players is from Mexico, and he said that the name used for Jacks south of the border is also the word used colloquially for gay men. (In Israel, it's apparently the word for 'little bird' that is used, according to another player.) So Luis had an interesting twist: Jacks were semi-wild, in that they could be a Jack, a Queen, or a King, but no other card. We tossed some names around for it like "Gender Bender", etc, then Luis said "South Beach". I said okay, but only if we disallowed straights, as it didn't seem right. (Yes, I went there.) And so South Beach was born. It's a fun little variant.
Tonight, we were playing it, and someone, I can't remember who, suggested that the low hole card be wild as well. (It was getting kind of silly towards the end - there's this house game called Six Card Ka that is just... it's just bizarre.) ginkgo brought the house down with her suggestion, and I thought the host was going to need recuperation time before he got his breath back.
