I've Been Moved

kickahaSo apparently the old joke is true, after all.
My advisor who recruited me to come up here is under a hiring freeze for the foreseeable future, so no permanent position is possible with him.
However.
He's been looking out for me, and found a posting for a position over in the Software Tools Research division. Hmm... think it might be a good fit?
Well, I applied, I interviewed, and lo and behold, I got the offer to come over there. I accepted, even. So, mid-Oct or so I'm going to be leaving the site I've been at for the past 7 months and move 10 min down the road to another Watson Research site that is, basically, all software research. It turns out that this is the division that my advisor/boss figured I'd end up in eventually, we just didn't think it would be this fast.
Still on postdoc, the new group has essentially taken over the payments on my lease, and come Jan, we'll discuss making it permanent.
Sooooo... I guess I have a new job. :)
I'm oddly sad about this, since I feel like I *just* figured out how to navigate this site and project, and now... zwoop. Ah well, it's a move to a better placement for future growth, I hope.
