it was dark, and then it went all BRIGHT and there was this white light, and the clouds went whooooooooo, and then there was smoke, and biiiiiig clouds of smoke, and the light went yellow, and orange, and white some more, and then it went up a little bit, and then a little bit more, and there was more smoke and then it started roaring but not really because it started long before but we were a long ways away but there was lots of sound and lots and LOTS of light and then up up up up up up up whooooooooooooooosh

I was not prepared for what an overwhelming experience it would be.

My brain still cannot comprehend what I saw. The light was so very bright that *my* experience with the launch is completely different from how it looks on tv. On the bus back from the launch site, I watched a video made by the guy sitting next to me. Even five minutes later, seeing the footage made the actual launch made it seem so much more surreal. The wash of sound, the intensity of the light, being able to see bright red specks from a great distance when the booster rockets peeled off... *drool*
