Glad I'm not needing to drive from one side of WA to the other, like, say Seattle to Wenatchee...

I'll go Stevens Pass, US2! Or not...

Oh, I know... Blewett Pass, US97! Er...

Ah, right, I-90 to Vantage, then up the Columbia River! Uh...

Okay, *FINE*... Seattle south to Portland on I-5, then a couple hours along the OR border, then back up north along the Columbia River, RIGHT? 'Fraid not.

Canada, anyone??

Hope y'all are staying dryish.

On the plus side, this is just stunning.

yah.....

We've got shipments stuck trying to come both over the pass and up from Portland. FedEx and UPS are just going to blow a gasket soon with this so soon after the snow, the average shipment has taken some 3-4 days longer than it should every week in the last month.

And they say that I-5 may not even open until Saturday. The guy on the news today said "the only way in or out of Seattle right now is a plane", 'cause they've been very leery of small boat traffic due to the rushing amounts of water near shore.

Missing "home" yet?

Well, good thing (nearly) everyone up in that region has a boat of some sort... :D

The "Seattle south to Portland on I-5" link goes to a bunch of kids watching a helicopter land. Of course, if you start hitting the next button, it's pretty impressive.

Hope your loved ones are staying warm and dry...

That's the Salish Lodge - you can stay there, and yes, they have rooms overlooking the falls. :)

(And kick-ass breakfasts...)

Mmm...brunch at the Salish Lodge.

I haven't been up there in ages...although I guess that now isn't the time to head back.

I'm sure if you could get there, they'd welcome you with open arms. I don't think they're doing much business these days.

I prefer the pie in Beaver. The only way to get to it is through Sappho.

I am not making this up. (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=beaver,+wa&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=45.736609,55.107422&ie=UTF8&ll=48.0642,-124.317856&spn=0.07583,0.107632&t=h&z=13)

And if you keep going from Beaver, you get to Forks, which will be of invaluable assistance as you eat your Beaver pie. Also, sparkly vampires. Whether they would be a help or hindrance on the pie front I cannot say.

I can say that the photography around Forks is amazing:
