Well *that* was weird.
Leah handed me a radish in the kitchen. I took a bite, fumbled, and dropped it. Snaked my hand out for it... and impaled my hand on the end of the kitchen shears she was holding. Right between my ring and little fingers. Going directly into the palm, parallel with the fingers, directly into the webbing.
Amazingly, for being 1/4" deep or so, it did *not* bleed immediately. Oh no, I had to keep working the tissues to get it to do *that*.
Whee.
And now, due to popular demand:

Cute, ain't it?

I feel horrible.

O.K., I did get over it eventually.
Ow!
I've become a little squeamish over the past few months. I still haven't gotten over something I did to one of my feet long long ago.
In 7th grade I was running out the door to a tennis tournament and knocked a box of staples onto the floor. I planted my foot right onto a strip of them and lodged it into the bottom of my *bare* foot. I did play that day. I was most definitely eliminated, though.

(And that's my reaction AFTER just seeing Dawn of the Dead... I shall quietly go to bed now, and not get started on my litany of Boy Scout injuries. Did I mention it was long?)
Eeeeee!
Gives me the same kind of spine-shiver, nails-on-a-chalkboard twitchy feeling I got when I planted a bare foot on a wire nail and drove it straight into the bottom of the arch. It lodged, and I had to get pliers to pull it out.
Worst part: I'd used that nail to poke a hole in the bottom of a not-clean ferret cage earlier that day, and lost it in the carpet.
I hopped around shrieking and went and soaked my foot in a tub for a long long long time. It never did bleed, and it really didn't hurt...it was the psychic damage. EEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Reminds me of the time I sliced the end off my right ring finger when a glass bowl I was drying shattered in my hands. It didn't bleed in great quantities, but it sure took a long time (like, a weekend) to stop completely. The cool thing was that I could take the bandage off and squeeze my finger to send out a little jet of blood, thus entirely freaking out my susceptible cousin. :)
