Wow, this... kinda bugs me.

Remember that project I was on last year, where I literally worked myself sick to the point of needing an MRI to check for strokes to explain the blackouts, and months of endocrinological work to try and figure out what had happened?

I just got a note that they're removing the code from the project, and if I want a copy, I should go grab it.

Well *that* was a complete waste of 8 months of my life, apparently...

Edit: OTOH, I refuse to be made to feel bad about my code design by a group that uses goto. By choice. Rar.

...Not to mention the time it took off the end of it...

Welcome to Corporate America, where working hard is like wetting your pants in a dark suit--you get a brief (ha!) warm feeling, but nobody else notices.

[identity profile] kickaha.livejournal.com 2007-10-25 03:21 pm (UTC)(link)
You are *such* a ray of fucking sunshine... :D

[identity profile] georgmi.livejournal.com 2007-10-25 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I keep telling you, I get paid an embarrassing amount of money to be professionally negative.

You get it for *free*. What the *fuck* are you complaining about? :)

[identity profile] morgyne.livejournal.com 2007-10-25 04:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yay, I thought that kind of shit ended after grad school.
Did you at least get a nifty picture of your brain?

[identity profile] morgyne.livejournal.com 2007-10-25 04:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Because I was thinking, if I had an MRI of my brain, I'd get it scanned, then put the picture on a t-shirt and say 'THIS IS THE PROBLEM HERE FOLKS'. And it would excellent. But you don't have to do that.

[identity profile] kickaha.livejournal.com 2007-10-25 04:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I... *LIKE* that.

[identity profile] kickaha.livejournal.com 2007-10-25 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Isn't that Mike Tyson's reasoning when he beats the shit out of someone in a bar?

Delivered an octave *higher*, mind you, but...

;)

[identity profile] franktheavenger.livejournal.com 2007-10-25 05:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Come on, dude, you should know better by now. You are not a unique snowflake. ;p

[identity profile] georgmi.livejournal.com 2007-10-25 05:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Must...Resist...Straight...Line...

[identity profile] kickaha.livejournal.com 2007-10-25 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually, I am.

But I am not my fucking khakis.

[identity profile] morgyne.livejournal.com 2007-10-25 07:11 pm (UTC)(link)
See, fuck the negative people, there is ALWAYS something interesting to be had! So there you poopy heads!

nAHHH NAH NAH NAAAAH NAAAAH.

(sorry, I think I drank some acrylamide earlier)

[identity profile] franktheavenger.livejournal.com 2007-10-25 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
What's acylamide?

And you may appreciate this: http://granades.com/2007/05/02/loltrek/

[identity profile] franktheavenger.livejournal.com 2007-10-25 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
You wear them often enough. :p

[identity profile] morgyne.livejournal.com 2007-10-25 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I use it as a component to make SDS-PAGE to run proteins through so I can beat them until I am satisfied!

And thanks for the share, that is really funny XD (I like the Settlers reference too. Get your nerd on kiddies!)

[identity profile] kickaha.livejournal.com 2007-10-25 07:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha! I'm a Levi's 501 buttonfly man.

Preferably with a raunchy tshirt, and a flannel buttondown over the top.

With hiking boots.

[identity profile] ginkgo.livejournal.com 2007-10-25 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank ghod you only have one flannel... and it's not plaid. :D

[identity profile] franktheavenger.livejournal.com 2007-10-25 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Back in college my then-lady and I referred to my button-fly jeans as my 'easy-access' jeans. ;)

[identity profile] franktheavenger.livejournal.com 2007-10-25 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, now I knew as much as I did before...I guess that's what I get for not being a scientist. :p

[identity profile] georgmi.livejournal.com 2007-10-25 08:59 pm (UTC)(link)
TMI, dude.

(But me, too--in fact, "easy access" was/is a criterion for certain articles of clothing on both sides.)

(*MY* jeans and *MY* lady, but you knew that.)

[identity profile] morgyne.livejournal.com 2007-10-25 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sorry! I erred on the side of caution because I assumed you were a big nerd too :)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acrylamide

So you can separate proteins based on their size if you run them through a matrix, in my case acrylamide. After it polymerizes (assembles) it forms this gel like goo. It is also a neurotoxin, so you can bake it into cakes and kill people and shit.

(SDS-PAGE: Sodium Diethyl Sulfate Polyacrylimide Gel)

[identity profile] kickaha.livejournal.com 2007-10-25 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I still say front-clasp bras are best for that, but I am up against an entrenched opposition party on this point.

[identity profile] kickaha.livejournal.com 2007-10-25 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
That reminds me, I need more flannel. :D

[identity profile] georgmi.livejournal.com 2007-10-25 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I find that having to reach around behind, slow down, and actually *think* about what I am doing results in a higher likelihood that the garment will be usable a second time.

[identity profile] ginkgo.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
I merely believe that they are unreliable in the wild beyond a certain volume.

They are, however, a perfectly acceptable option in other arenas. ;)

[identity profile] franktheavenger.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
Haha, nerd yes, scientist no. I have an art degree, I work in video games. :D

Yay for killing people with SCIENCE!

[identity profile] franktheavenger.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
That's a feature, not a bug. :D

[identity profile] ginkgo.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
Isn't it more like killing people with math?

XD

[identity profile] ginkgo.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
Things can disappear from the laundromat.

I would like to maintain my loss-less status.

That is all I have to say on the matter.

[identity profile] ginkgo.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
*cough*

*cough*

*ahem*

That's exactly how he counters. :D

[identity profile] franktheavenger.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
He is a doctor! :D

[identity profile] georgmi.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
I thought about pointing out that a single clasp tends to be insufficient, given M.'s, um, ampleness? Amplitude? Yeah, amplitude.

But then I thought that would be tacky, so I didn't.

Besides, people might think I was bragging. :)

[identity profile] georgmi.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
Flannel decomposes to threadbare too quickly. Lightweight Polartec or chamois are the way to go.

[identity profile] icebluenothing.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 09:39 am (UTC)(link)
.... Wouldn't that be because you are bragging?

[identity profile] georgmi.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, yeah. But I don't want people to *think* that. :)
