If you're packing away your AC unit for the winter, and you happen to peek inside and see a touch of mold and/or mildew, and this bothers you, just throw it away and buy a new one.

Under no circumstances should you dismantle the AC unit to its constituent parts, with the intent to scrub them down with Tilex, because it *never ends*. There was an encrustation about 1/8" thick on the impeller that forced the *internal* air. Ew.

OTOH, I can now field strip a home AC unit in about five minutes flat.

Awesome!
After my adventures in home appliance repair, I may just *build* my next dryer from scratch. The cheap ones are *ludicrously* simple.
