Night before last I ordered Chinese takeout from this *fabulous* place here in town. (Delivered Chinese that is on par with Cody's in Raleigh and half the price? Makes me feel like I'm back in the NW.)
Included amongst the Gen. Tzo's Chicken and pork fried rice was a large *vat* of hot and sour soup. I filled up on the others that night, but dove into the soup today. It's always really really tasty, and high on the spice level. Considering it's cold up here in the apt today (about 60deg or so, and the heat is controlled two floors below, where it's much warmer...) this was a perfect choice.
Except when I open the container from the fridge, it's kind of like aspic.
Okay, no problem, heat it up and it'll thin out and melt... right?
It now has the consistency of poultry gravy, and is barely cool enough to eat.
ginkgo can tell you how much I loooooooooove poultry gravy. Truly. Gak.
Needs more wonton strips... but the flavor is wonderful.
