ginkgo suggested we make Easter eggs today. She mentioned that she'd like to trying making dye from boiled onion skins, and off to the market she goes. This is a grocery store that is aimed at the local Central and South American immigrant population... it is *fantastic*. (It's the same store she posted about offering whole guinea pigs in the frozen section.)

While she's going through the onion bins, picking out nothing but skins and putting them in a bag, a small girl comes up, shakes the bag, turns to her mother, and asks something in Spanish. ginkgo, a language geek who didn't get much Spanish exposure, is *very* proud of herself for having picked up enough Spanish up here to figure out the girl asked "Why is the lady buying trash?"

To which ginkgo enthusiastically replied...

"Dye!"
