Swear to god, my hometown was the model for Twin Peaks.

Most recent development? 6800 acre (and counting) fire started by folks who lived two doors down from us, with an ill-thought-out smoke bomb during a paintball game. Fire went the other direction from our old house.

Those are borate planes, btw... they're supposed to be that low. :)

See?

Usually you don't get quite this close a view... (INCOMING!)

This one has Flight of the Valkyries running through my head, even through they're dropping water, not napalm.

Mmmm, toasty.

And what it looks like when you're fighting it on foot.

I've done a little fireline work, and it is hot, nasty, and grungy. When you're literally helping a school friend save his family's home and farm though, it keeps things in perspective. Hats off to the guys fighting this.

And Diede? You always were a dipstick.

Yah, I will not be surprised when someone out of my high school makes similar headlines.

And they *filmed* _Twin Peaks_ in my town, except for the "lake" scenes which were actually shot in Gray's Harbor, on the ocean 120 miles away (note the seashells around the body). They still do bus tours where you can get "damn fine coffee," though I've never thought that the Gateway's cuppa was all that good. (And since when is "this is where pies go to die" an endorsement? *I* don't want to eat dead, or especially undead, pie.)

Zombie pie want braaaaaaaaaaaaaaaains...

Man, now I have the frightening image of Fruit Pie the Magician as a killer zombie. Thanks a lot, you jerk, you're as bad as Michael Bay at killing childhood memories. *sob*

Better. It doesn't cost me a hundred million bucks to do it.

On the other hand, I completely failed to get *you* to pay *me* ten bucks for the privilege. Oh, well. I like to think my art is above crass commercialism.

Yeah, but normally the rednecks what done start the flagramation are up yonder in the canyons and such like.

I'm still cracking up that it was someone I knew growing up there.

I like the fire that was set by a dirt bike. CLASSY PEOPLE CLASSY.

I'm just going to start lying and say I'm from somewhere classy like Republic, or Omak or Curlew or something.

Now where would be the fun in that? If you're going to go for Somewhere Else, go all out. Tell 'em you're from Ruby. It's in the Hanford Nuclear Reservation. :D
