Went and saw it tonight...
Color me surprised.

Action sequences: HELL YEAH (okay, a little too busy sometimes to even figure out what the &*(%@# was going on.)
Transformations: Niiiiiiiiiiice.
Acting: Good with what they were given.
Humor: Uh... the weak spot. A few great moments, most were either really forced or waaaaaaaaaay too long.
Love interest: Surprisingly not as nauseating as I expected from a Bay film.

But really, anytime they start to talk about computer infiltrations, signals, networks, or cryptography, just plug your ears. It hurts. Bad. That entire subplot could have been left on the cutting room floor, and it wouldn't have changed the film one iota.

In the end? BIG FUCKING ROBOTS BLOWING SHIT UP MAN! Pretty much all you need to know.

So basically you're saying it was pretty good, but not more than meets the eye?

Eh, the longer I get from the viewing experience, the less impressed I am.

Yeah, the CGI was fabulous. I actually kind of liked the character redesigns... until I saw them move. Too busy. You couldn't tell where freaking entire limbs were. Which is too bad, because the CGI work was really, really nice.

There were entire subplots that could have been jettisoned without disrupting anything, and they were invariably the parts that made me physically cringe with how bad they were.

If they'd stuck to the Boy Meets Car, Boy Meets Girl, Robots kick Robot Ass plots, it would have been much, much better. The rest was just so much deadweight.

Sad when it doesn't even stand up to the first time you actually think about it. Oh, well. Wasn't going to see it anyway. :)
