Went down to NYC last night with some folks from work, and did some sightseeing at the American Crafts Fair at Lincoln Center, as well as dinner at Urban Plaza. A is an immediate coworker, and her fiancee P also works at Research in another division. A was born in Hong Kong, and we got to talking about bubble tea. [livejournal.com profile] ginkgo called it boba(sp?) tea, and I thought she was being cute, so I asked her where she came up with that. A said that actually, that's the original name, and bubble tea is an Anglicization of it. So of course I asked what boba meant. "Literally, 'big balls', but the common connotation is actually of large breasts."

Bubble tea, boba tea, boobie tea.

Yeah, that works.

(Kinda makes you wonder what 'fett' means too, huh?)

Boba Fett = big balls, little cheese.

Or maybe: large breasts, sour milk.
