Just got back from Pan's Labyrinth. I dunno, it just didn't really grab me. It seemed kind of flat, the characters were really one-dimensional and uninteresting, and all in all it was really pretty predictable.






Okay, now that I have your attention... ;)

Loved it.

I have to see it again since M didn't go with me to the sneak preview. Somehow this doesn't bother me a bit :).
(And I agree with ginkgo about this versus _Mirrormask_: I'm a huge fan of Dave McKean, but I didn't see it twice when I could for free and I didn't have a strong desire to pick up the DVD yet.)

Yup. My take on it is...

Mirrormask was a film *of* a fairy tale. A specific one, played out on screen.

Pan's Labyrinth is a film *about* fairy tales, their power, their significance, and their place in our psyches.
