I've known [livejournal.com profile] icebluenothing since about 1985 or so, in Seattle.

I've known [livejournal.com profile] sailormur since about 1995ish, down in NC.

To the best of my knowledge, I've never mentioned one to the other.

And yet...

So congrats to Mssr. Montoure on his successful foray into audio, and congrats to Mighty Mur for selecting a very talented author's piece, and if you don't mind, I'm going to go gibber in the corner for a while. Thenk yew.

Cool; I read Mur's column in KODT every month, didn't realize she was a FOAF. Also didn't realize she was behind Pseudopod.

I wonder how many mutual friends one needs with a person one has never met in order to qualify for crashing on the couch the next time I'm in SC?

Heh. "Next" time, like there's ever been a "last" time. Or likely will be--with no baseball or Disney parks in the state, I doubt I'll ever make it...

SW? Did I move and nobody told me?

No wonder everybody keeps giving me those weird looks at work...

No, just making fun that we were talking about *NORTH* Carolina... ;)

South Carolina is to NC as Idaho is to WA, in most respects.

Ooh, scary.

Yep, I see that I have fucked up. And then compounded the failure with a smarmy comment. Woot! 1 +0+@77'| r0xx0r!

Must be time to go home.

That's OK. SC is about forty-ninth on my list of States To Visit, right before Oklahoma.

(Texas would be last, but M. and I had a layover at DFW on a trip to Orlando one time.)

Eh, SC is a great state to drive through when you're headed to a launch at Kennedy. ;)

Aside from that, Savannah>Charleston, and Hilton Head is nice if you're not at a megahotel, but not something to go out of your way for.

I think I will be peppered with buckshot the next time I cross the Mason-Dixon, so I'm stopping here. ;)

Man, if I had a dollar for all the places I'd be peppered with buckshot if I ever showed my face 'round them thar parts again, I'd have...

Let me see...

Three dollars! Maybe only two, 'cause one of them they'll probably have forgotten about me by now.

I guess that's not as impressive as I wanted it to be. Sigh.

Austin is worth visiting in Texas. There are a few cool things there, other than Austin.

DFW airport is not the same. Unlike Newark, it does not adequately represent the rest of the state. :)

Oh, and Jason? Make sure to hum "It's A Small World After All" 8,000 times in a row while cowering in your corner. It won't make you feel any better, but it WILL amuse the rest of us.

I know a guy whose Small World boat sank in the middle of the ride. It took them an hour to get him out of the attraction, soaking wet and insane.

Nowadays, if you merely hum the song in his presence, he gibbers. Loads of fun at parties!

LOL Oh that's beautiful.

We know a guy who got kicked off of it for waving dollar bills at the little hula dancers asking for a lap dance, but to get *stuck* in it? Maaaaaaaaadnesssssssssss!

Yeah, I can barely stand to ride the thing for the standard seven minutes. I have a vivid mental image of the water creeping up my ankles as the boat sinks, with the dolls continuing to sing their insipidious anthem...

Insipidious is a word I made up just for "It's a Small World". It combines insipid and insidious. I'm quite proud of it.
