ginkgo found a little something for us to do for the 4th...

Tonight we went up to West Point to listen to the West Point Military Band play the usual array of July 4th songs, and watch the fireworks.

America the Beautiful...

Armed Forces Anthem...

The 1812 Overture... WITH REAL FUCKING CANNONS! YEAH BABY! :D

Nobody, but NOBODY does explosions like the military.


I've been wanting to see that since I was a wee kid and first saw a Looney Tunes version of that piece.

Real cannons! Yadda-dadda-dadda-tum-tum-tum-BLAM!

Yeah, after 3 years of up close and personal fireworks from E, I didn't think anything could wow me. This did.

I still love having fireworks casings land on and around me and ash in my hair, but... this really did take fireworks to the next level.
