Brain fart.

Calling all Seattleites! Calling all Seattleites!

What was the name of the station in the *early* 80s that played stuff like Oingo Boingo, Depeche Mode, etc... wasn't KUBE or C89... AUGH! This is driving me nuts. I heard Oingo Boingo's "Nothing Bad Ever Happens to Me" in '83 on there, and I've been wrong ever since, and now I can't remember the name of the damned station. Grr. IIRC, they sold off about '85 and changed formats.

This is driving me nuts.

Shite. 101.5-7, just right of KISW, left of KZOK. Dammit, now you've got me wracking my brain.

Maybe it was KZOK?

AH! KPLZ. K-Plus!

Are you talking about KJET?

you're talking about The End (KNDD). They're still around, but I remember listening to those things there about that time (and for the next couple of years).

Of course your milage may vary.

Nope, the End didn't come on the air until 92.

I think he's talking about KYYX, but I could be mistaken.

Nope, not The End... about '87 they started to play new wave and such, prior to launching grunge, but I'm thinking a few years earlier. In any case, definitely wasn't 107.7. ACK!

Heyyyyy... 101.5, Station Z might in fact be it. I remember a small fracas in the media when Zebraclub sold Station Z shirts downtown with a big ol' Z on them, and it had nothing to do with the radio station.

Must ponder, but I think that's it.

I know I listened to 107.7 playing grunge in 89/90, and new wave for a while before that... you sure about '92? I think that's when they changed *owners*, but I seem to recall them being called The End before then.

Nope. For some reason I never really listened to KJET, although I know of a lot of others did.

Missed the second half... KYYX... recall the numeric setting? That's pinging some grey matter there...

You know, I think you're right. I'm remembering the ownership change.

I never did, either, but I've heard a lot of other people fondly reminisce about it, so I thought that might be it.

I'm gonna have to go with the general KPLZ contingent. :)

That's the one that I remember, at least.

in 83 some of my friends were listening to "the wave", as in new wave? But I don't remember anything else myself.
