Oh and *just* to make things more bizarre...

I just got called up for jury duty in Wake County, NC. Feb 26th.

Go figure.

I got called for jury duty *twice* after we'd moved back to Seattle.

I kept having to fax them a copy of my driver's license, so they'd believe me when I said, "Really, I can't make it."

Yeah, see, here's the problem... to get the documentation to them in time to make them happy, I have to send them a copy of my new driver's license by Feb 16th.

That means I have two weeks to get residence documentation for NY, get a NY license, and get it in hand. I know NC is set up so that you can walk out with it that day, but I don't know about NY. Bleah.

I may just have to come back for it, and hope for the best. :}

You got a fax number? I mailed it to them by actual paper mail.

You can always call them and explain the situation. :)

I think that it had something to do with being in Seattle. :)

Yes, but I'm in the Puget Sound area as well.

I'm not sure on this -- I started my driving career *in* NY. But my suspicion is that you'll have to take the written test. That's what I had to do when I moved from NY to MA, and NY's bureaucracy is at least comparible. I seem to also remember having to take it when I renewed my license.

But after getting a PhD that should be pretty easy.
