Green Day sucks

No really, I'm not a big fan of them at all. They just come across as Pop Punk Lite, like a high school band covering the Clash at a school dance - it just doesn't have the energy, oomph, or zing of the genre they're supposedly responsible for 'saving'. (Kind of like saying the Baptists saved Christianity, if you ask me, but...)

Anyway, someone managed to not only make them palatable, but interesting, and, dare I say it (Dare! Dare!) good.

Yes, apparently all they needed was Daleks. Something about the dischord of the theme as KLF used it, *really* makes GD's melody pop. I love it. Obviously, GD just needs a much better producer. :p

Also apparently though, Green Day's label, WB, sucks harder. Head here for the whole sordid story. And then, on Dec 13th, grab that album. The Daleks command it. (icebluenothing, retcon, this means you, naturally.)

No, no, the Go-Go's were pop punk lite. Just overproduced. Green Day is somewhere inbetween the Clash and the Go-Go's. Without cleavage as an extra selling point.

(Don't believe me? Take "Vacation" down an octave or so and turn the synth into a second guitar. You'll sprain your brain. For the full effect get someone like Lemmy from Motorhead to do the vocals ;) )

I guess I always thought the whole lack of energy thing was somehow part of the act. Kind of like Joey Ramone appearing to be only still standing because the mike stand's in the way for an hour and a half...then again, that might not have been acting...
