Evil mindworms R us

For all you sf fans out there:

Whistle the Stargate SG-1 theme. Go ahead, I'll wait.

Now whistle the Dr. Who theme.

Now try whistling the SG-1 theme again.

You're welcome.

Dr. Who theme if Michael Nyman had recorded it:

More Dr. Who theme covers than you can probably stand:

He's been giving me flack over how many mixes I've listened to from that site over the past few days. I really love the new series. :)

I still need to see the new series, I'm a big fan of Eccleston. He was my second-favorite actor in _Elizabeth_, and I'm rambled before on how much I like his lead role in the _Titus_-meets-_Clockwork Orange_ film _The Revengers Tragedy_.

His utter mania steals the show for me. We have loaned out episodes 1 & 2, but should be getting them back soon. I would love to host a Who night again sometime. :)

Spiffy. Feel free to come over and watch him be manically insane in _Revengers Tragedy_, I bought the DVD.

Oh no, not more than I can stand... I've been wandering around whistling the Who theme incessantly for weeks. (Which is what led to this post, actually.) I think it's one of the catchier and more interesting snippets of music produced in pretty much, well, ever. I love that it blends so well with various genres, and it's entirely too much fun to see how people integrate it with their own style.

Sounds like we need to have a night of Eccleston Mania.

As Oscar Wilde said....

Great, just rub it in that I can't whistle worth spit. I suppose the themes are similiar?

Only superficially, but they are easy to get jumbled up. Both have a strident 'march' feel to them, both have a main theme and secondary 'bridge'. With SG-1, the main theme is major, and the bridge is minor, while with Dr. Who it's reversed. It's way too easy to start with one, and end up humming the other without realizing it.
