You know, it's been a while...

...since the last time I had to manually make sure I save my document every change I make so I don't lose them when the application crashes.

Word has crashed on me five times tonight, losing changes each time. That's more crashes than I've had, in all others applications combined, in the last few months. Unbelievable.

Oh, and AutoSave? Useless.

Note to self: delete Word from hard drive when this job is done. There's just no point in even trying to use it for anything serious or important.

It could be worse... at least it didn't delete the ENTIRE document!

You may recall my misadventures where Word DELETED THE ENTIRE CHAPTER I WAS ALMOST FINISHED WITH THE NIGHT BEFORE IT WAS DUE AT MY PUBLISHER!

Trust me, every time it crashed, I feared that had happened.

The kicker? The USPTO has electronic filing now. Guess what formats? XML, PDF, and TIFF.

They even provide a tool to produce the proper format, schema, etc... BUT IT ONLY WORKS AS A WORD PLUGIN.

Insanity abounds.
