Yup, format lock-in is the evil of IT. I couldn't give a rat's ass about open *source* to be honest, but I demand open *data*. I'll gladly use a commercial piece of software that I paid for that lets me move *my* data to other apps with ease, and will avoid even *free* apps that lock me in. The fact that open source usually uses open formats is just coincidental in my analysis.
