And sweet tea too! :D
ginkgo found a smoked meats and BBQ joint in Croton-on-Hudson, just up the river a bit that actually wasn't that bad. A little too clean, the apparent owner (who looked like Dad Brady after a bender) kept... *HOVERING* over everything, and trying to 'explain' BBQ to the patrons (which was damned amusing when he came to our table), and generally being a nervous nellie, but the food made up for it.
The tea could have been sweeter, the hot vinegar (Piedmont Carolina Cue sauce) could have been hotter, and they had Tabasco instead of Texas Pete, but WE HAD 'CUE! :D And hush puppies, and cornbread, and slaw, and 'nana pudding. :)
We're definitely going back.
The meat was incredibly well cooked and smoked, although it needed a bit more fat and grease cut into it. (Although I understand why they didn't.) The hushpuppy mix was really good, even if they probably should have dropped the temp of the fryer by 15-20deg.
But y'know, when everything is 90% there on something you didn't think you'd find in the new area... you embrace it thankfully.
WE HAD 'CUE! :D *happy dance*
