kickahaDrove out to Triangle Town Center today to meet a buddy for lunch. Noticed Jeep seemed to be running a little hotter than normal, but not by more than maybe 10deg. Go have lunch, come out, there's a note on my windshield: "Your vehicle has lost a large amount of anti-freeze. Please consider that when leaving. Sgt T. Wilson TTC Security" Well, there was about a gallon liquid on the ground, covered with sand. Grumbling in the heat (and y'all know how well i deal with heat...), I pop the hood. Overflow tank is almost full. Pop fill cap off. Fluid to top. Curious.
Start it up, and voila, dripping from a hose clamp. Turn it off, and there's a bubbling noise. Curiouser.
Send my buddy on his way, and figure that I'll keep an eye on the temp, but that I have plenty of fluid still, and home isn't *that* far away.
I got halfway around the mall, still in the parking lot, when the temp gauge buried itself into the red, a nice toasty 260deg. Not good.
Stop the car in the baking sun, turn it off, then turn on the electrics to crank the heater on full blast and bleed the heat off the engine. The air comes out warm, but not as blazing hot as I'd expect. Very not good. (Sitting in the bright sun on a hot NC day with the heater on is also not really recommended if you don't deal well with heat in the first place. Bleah.)

jason0x21 and others, that the water simply isn't circulating. This could be from something as simple as an air bubble that needs to be bled (which might mean a leak somewhere), a physical blockage in the water lines (rust, etc, hopefully not in a water channel *in the block*), or a failed water pump.
