Of course.
Last week I started having problems checking in my dissertation to CVS, my main backup.
Today I found out why.
They're retiring the server, and as part of that, made the drives read-only.
Suggested fix: migrate to new departmental CVS server.
Reason I didn't do it two months ago when they announced it: didn't want anything new to have to deal with while trying to finish, and since they chose CVS instead of SVN, it doesn't get me anything but headaches in the migration and the possibility of lost data.
Guess I get to do it now.
