Ow.

Is it just me, or did scraped knees not hurt so much when I was a kid?

The blasted cricket that drove me nuts last night poked its little antennae out from under the couch a bit ago, so I let it get out into the middle of the room, where it thought it was safe.

Then I pounced like a lion.

Okay, it was more like a walrus, but it (eventually) worked. I had a 3-ring binder I brought down flat, but the little bastard did what they're best at, and leaped to freedom... so I scooted after it.

Bad idea. We have a sisal rug. I have a *beautiful* shiner on my right knee where it took off all the thinnest layer of outer skin perfectly, and little gouges of under skin imperfectly.

I whapped him the second try but good (squoosh), but goodness this burns.

Stupid cricket.

Sigh.

And how is the rug?

Sisal doesn't like to have little protein bites left in it, you know. Tsk, tsk.

Now you know why killing crickets is bad luck.

I will do penance anon with a soft brush and clean cloth to wipe the juicy bits of myself out of the innocent rug.

And apparently yes, killing crickets is bad luck, particularly when they're on sisal. :/ They tend to leave that detail out of the fables...
