That which coils within...

Dropped the pain pump this morning, yanking out all the slack in the tube that had been under the dressing, but not actually yanking out the catheter... which surprised me. It didn't even hurt, which was odd.

Went to PT, which did hurt, but I expected that, then, again, my shirt was soaked with fluids. Went back to the nurse at Sports Medicine to have it looked at, and we decided to just pull the catheter since it only has about 8ml of fluid left, and I figured I'd pull it with her there, rather than at home since I had no idea what to expect.

Well, I found out why it didn't come out... ~7" of tubing wrapped in my shoulder, snaking through the joint tissues. Wacky. It just kept coming, and coming, and coming... and I could feel it as it unwound through everything. It never hurt, it just felt strange.

I asked the nurse if I could take the pump home, even though it had biohazard trash attached in the form of the tube. "Why?" "Because I'm a sick monkey who like to take stuff apart and see how it works." For some reason she thought that was hilarious.

So now I have a little puncture hole in the top of my shoulder that's actually the entrance to 7" of tunnel into my shoulder, and it keeps spitting up at me. Cute little bugger. Too bad about the bandages keeping it hidden. (I figure if I aim it just right and twitch my arm hard enough, I could get a few feet of distance out of it... spitting cobra, eat your heart out.)

Ah well, maybe my shirt will dry out now. :)

you know, that could potentially be used as a weapon. A very weak weapon, but with a high disgust factor. ;)

Exactly!

I love the clam jokes! His cat had surgery back in 1998 to remove a tumor from her ear which was growing both through the ear drum and towards the brain. She had to come home early because she wasn't eating and rejected all of her medication. She came home with... a latex drainage tube on the side of her neck which really looked like a clam's breathing tube. I called her "Clam Cat" and I sang the Teapot song to Kickaha.

I expected something similar when the surgeon spoke to me Tuesday. Alas, I had to shelve my clam jokes. :( I did sing the Teapot song to him this morning when he was able to pour fluid out of his shoulder while leaning over to shave.

You forgot the best part... when she shook her head, it went pflflflfpflfpflfpflfpflfpl everywhere with kitty juices. :)

And yeah, the human body should be able to retain fluids when non-vertical! Simply wrong I tell ya!

No, thank you, I don't have the capacity to forget that. :P
