Naw, I'm not nervous...
That's only why I've been awake, off and on, since *4:30*... :P
Shall I count the ways?
1) Anaesthesia... I have this almost-not-quite-phobia about not having the anesthesia take effect on my conscious mind. In other words, paralysis, but feeling still intact. Rare, but it happens.
2) Anaesthesia #2... I'm a redhead. Redheads, in general, need more anaesthesia. No longer just anecdote, it's become accepted fact in medical communities. (The weird thing is that we have a lower pain *threshhold*, but a higher pain *tolerance*, in general. So we're tough as nails, we just bitch more about it. :) ) More anaesthesia is riskier.
3) Nerve damage... I'd hate to wake up with no use of the arm. If I sleep on my right side now, the shoulder slides out of place and presses on a nerve to my hand, and it goes to sleep.
4) Infection... becoming more and more of a problem. While I have a really good immune system in general, necrosis is not my friend.
Buuuuuuut... < 3 hrs before I walk into pre-op.
