Re: Sufficient, from m-w.com

Tell you what - I'll stop being upset about people (in this case a clueless IT person) being idiots when they stop being idiots, m'kay? :)

From thesaurus.com:
-----
sufficiency, adequacy, enough, withal, quantum sufficit, satisfaction, competence; no less.

mediocrity (average)

Given his comments illustrating his amazing lack of information, I have this sneaking suspicion that the meaning behind the word wasn't exactly admiring, you know?

The point I tried to get across to him was that the Windows box was a waste of space on my desk... it really wasn't doing anything useful, and was merely taking up space. He seemed to have a hard time accepting that maybe I didn't *want* it taking up space on my desk... he didn't seem to be able to understand that maybe it wasn't up to the task for what I need... and it's not.

So to have the comment then end up being a mildly patronizing 'he finds it sufficient' irked me. I could not care less what people use for their own ends... I really couldn't. I do care when someone decides that I'm an idiot for using what I do, because of their lack of education and level of ignorance.

Sometimes a silly story is just a silly story, Steve. Let it go. :)

(Besides, we've talked what, half a dozen times in the past five years? Give a guy some credit for moving past the platform wars. BTW, we need to change that situation - see you in late Oct? :) )
