I've seen that a couple of times, now, but not from a reliable source, yet. Where'd you find it? Are we sure yet that that's not just a fan render?
As far as what I think of it .... I don't .... *hate* it, I guess. Well, I kinda do. Mainly, it looks to me like the "neck" is slid waaay too far back on the secondary hull, making the whole thing look kind of ungainly.
*shrug* I don't know. I'd have to see it in motion. I'm trying to keep in mind that when I first saw pictures of 1701-D, that looked "wrong" to me, too.

.... Yeah, I think that *is* the main problem I have with this design. Take a look at this quick-and-dirty "fixed version" I just Photoshopped and tell me if you don't agree.
Frankly (sorry, you've apparently tapped into a deep vein of Six-can't-shut-up), I don't think they should have changed the design at all. I've seen computer renderings in recent years that have taken the original design, and given it more depth and detail, and they looked great. They should have just done that.
You raise fine points, sir. Of course in whatever crap the E premiered I found myself wondering when they were going to stop making them, since they only lasted a year or so before whatever idiot captain they gave it to managed to destroy the damn thing.
You'd think after a couple of 'oopsies', they'd bench the morons with a desk job. I mean what the hell? How bad off does Starfleet have to be in the recruiting department to be stuck with captains who keep losing their ships?

Actually, I *like* the bridge -- as something to look at, at least, if not as a place where I could plausibly imagine people working all day long. Not without sunglasses.
I certainly don't *mind* the bridge. It's a very different aesthetic than TOS, obviously, but actually feels like it would fit somewhere between ENT and TMP. Kind of. Okay, ENT and TNG.

One of the biggest problems with TOS as canon is that it's so... old. I don't mean for 22xx, I mean for *now*. Communicator? *holds up iPhone* Data cards? *holds up MiniSD* Their predictions of future technology, barring phasers, teleporters, and warp drives, were kinda, um... short-sighted. But then, that's not really new. Truly futuristic technology is a) difficult to render on-screen in any way that the audience can relate to, and b) just ends up looking like the director waves their magic wand. (Same issue with alien species, IMO. Truly alien aliens are, well... hard. Easier to make Standard Biped #47, with Weird Cultural Quirk #3 and Personality Template #82.)
