DVR'd the premiere of The Middleman. Monday night, 9pm, ABC Family. Watching now.

Yeah, total crapshoot, but uh... this is great. It's every corny cliche of 50s and 60s comics, combined with utterly gratuitous fan service, and played *totally deadpan serious*.

This. Is. Beautiful.

Finally saw Iron Man last night with [livejournal.com profile] ginkgo. Nice. Robert Downey Jr. sold Stark beautifully, Bridges was *great* as Stane, and even Gwyneth Paltrow, who normally strikes me as having all the acting ability of a piece of damp cardboard, did a good job with Pepper.

They managed to strike a really nice balance between the various incarnations of the characters, they pulled in pieces of two major story arcs, and alluded to two more, all without losing folks who aren't complete comics junkies like yours truly. For us, though, man, they just littered it with easter eggs.

Two thumbs up.
