Another monkey off the back...
Mar. 1st, 2007 09:21 pmBack at the UW, a group of us would go donate blood on a regular basis. Every 8 weeks, actually. (It wasn't totally altruistic - there are two ways to up your BAC. 1) Add alcohol. 2) Remove blood. Made for cheap parties.) Never bothered me in the least.
Somewhere along the line though, something in my head went kaka, and suddenly I couldn't stand the donation needle. Give me a shot? No problem. Put it in a vein? *wham* Out cold. It got so bad I was fainting when they drew blood for blood tests, and the IV prior to my shoulder surgery was just *so* much fun. Needle would touch skin, I'd go limp, recover, repeat. Finally, they got it in, and I made the mistake of looking at it - out *COLD*, like a light, before she had it secured. Which meant that, according to protocol, they had to remove it. So we had to do it again. Whee.
Well, the med problems last summer had me having so much bloodwork, that it got me past *that* little hump, and now a blood test doesn't bother me in the least. So today, when I realized there was a Blood Drive at work... I decided to try it out again.
No problems, one pint dutifully donated. Whew.
