Two days working from home. One due to snow, one because I just plain wanted to. Tuesday night The Big Scary Storm hit. While we didn't get the 4-8" of snow we were forecast for, we did get about 4" of snow, hail, sleet, ice, and sand. Yes, I said sand. About half of what fell was so dry, so small, and so hard that it had the consistency of fine beach sand. It didn't melt when you walked on it, because it's too cold for that, and it didn't compress when you squeezed it in your hand. It was, for most purposes, indistinguishable from white fine sand. Wacky stuff. After today's sun, it changed consistency, but for a few hours there we were a giant frozen beach. Meanwhile, 30 miles south in NYC, they got hit with just slush. "I'm shoveling margaritas" was a quote from Harlem in the paper today.

Hmm. Beach... margaritas... almost something there...

Valentine's Day was interesting, because a) I completely slacked myself into a total lack of planning, b) so did [livejournal.com profile] gingko, c) we didn't care, d) we had a great time anyway. See, the great thing about a nasty snowstorm is that *everyone cancels their dinner reservations*. We just happen to live within walking distance of Main Street, so we had our pick of several places that were very eager to have *anyone* give them money that night. The walk down and back was a bit chilly (around 10deg before the rather harsh wind chill), but not too bad.

Wednesday, the morning traffic report was essentially a long litany of insurance claims. I half expected to hear droning Latin and chanting in the background. Decided that since I only had one meeting, and it always has at least one person call in, I'd stay home. Turns out that every single person on the team did the same. Today I *could* have gone in, but yesterday spoiled me. Tomorrow I should head in just to make sure I remember how to get to the office. Oddly I've been getting more work done at home...

I don't think is what most of us guys think of when we hear "she's a vamp". [livejournal.com profile] gingko's first comment was "Well, she did offer him kinky sex... wait, did he get the sex? That'd suck if he didn't get the sex with the kinky..."

[livejournal.com profile] dollraves, it's a good thing you left Alabama, or you'd be in for a world of trouble. At least, I assume you would be.

And I don't care if they're in Chicago, this is one store I want to shop at. Mmmm, meat. Warning, it's video with audio. Lots of audio.

[livejournal.com profile] golemkennels, I thought of you when I saw the lamb socks at the top of this page. (It will move down as they post new items, but it should be obvious which one I mean...) Okay, maybe not the stars and stripes one, but still... awwww....

For some reason, this one reminded me of you though, [livejournal.com profile] jason0x21. Of course, it also reminded me of similar systems I recall from the early 80s with numeric keypads... although it seemed that most of them were set to play Dixie ala the General Lee...
