Oddly impressed
Apr. 15th, 2006 07:50 pmAll I've heard about ConEdison, from both folks who escaped their clutches (as they describe it) and locals up here, is that they're just awful. Horrible, awful.
Today I got my first bill (which was actually quite a bit lower than I expected), and apparently the folks at ConEd have a program where you can choose where your electricity comes from. ie, green sources. (Of course, it's not like they divert it right to your house, but you pay for the block to be added to the pool.)
They separate out the supply from the delivery mechanism. ConEd is the delivery, but this gives you the choice of supply, from five companies that offer combinations of various green sources: sun, wind, reclaimed methane, biomass, water.
They don't have prices listed, I'm sure it's more expensive, but hey... I'm a firm believer in putting one's money and time where one's mouth is. This is beautiful.
Color me impressed.
