Still alive...
Mar. 2nd, 2006 12:35 amDecided maybe I should update a bit more often...
NY: I'm really digging the environment here - hilly, rocky, and dammit, it feels like winter. I can see the Hudson, which is gorgeous, and my commute is through four miles of craggy countryside dotted with ponds. Darn. On the down side, the towns roll up the sidewalks at 8. Which sucks for us night owls. Cute place to live, but it may get old.
Home: The apt is spiffy, but the movers are about to drive me insane. More on that later, as issues become resolved.
Work: Wow. Watson is... wow. For one thing, it's huge. I mean massive. 1800 people in the building I'm in, and the internal details are... impressive. Just walking the walls is a trip. I peek in labs as I walk by, and what I can identify of the equipment makes my eyes bug out. The guys in the labs just smile... oh yeah, they know what they have there. The names on the doors are fun to see too. A few I recognize. A few you would too. (Does 'B. Mandelbrot' ring a bell?) I'm getting access to folks I never would have dreamt of talking to a few months ago. Frankly, I'm still kind of shocked I'm here... this is the big leagues. Time to not screw it up.
I've got it easier than
ginkgo though... works keeps me busy.
