KHAAAAAAAAAAAAN!

AMC sucks.

8:00pm: War of the Worlds
9:50pm: Godzilla
11:20pm: War of the Worlds
1:10am: Godzilla
2:40am: They Live
4:40am: Terror of Mechagodzilla
6:00am: Rodan
8:00am: This Island Earth

*sob*

Considering this, I've gotten quite a bit done this evening.

Morning.

Whatever.

Dear Floridians...

Get a real state. Try something with terrain that doesn't stick into the ocean.

Love, God.

Hurricane Jeanne is now predicted to take a sharp-assed turn on Tue and bitchslap Florida.

Again.

Another two word classic line is born.

Saw Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow this afternoon... oh FUCK YEAH.

Pure, unadulterated 30's pulp. It's got *everything* of the genre, all lovingly layered and blended together. On frappe. With a touch of crack.

Achingly beautiful, the kicker about this film is that except for the actors, (and not even all of them,) and the items they directly touch (and definitely not all of them)... nothing in the film is real. It was all digitally created and then the actors, playing to a bluescreen, were matted in.

Result?

It looks like, feels like and quacks like a perfect 30s genre piece. If you have any interest in Flash Gordon, Doc Savage, the Rocketeer, Commando Cody, or heck, even Superman vs. the Mole Men, *go see this film*. If you love art deco or wehrmacht design *go see this film*. Heck, if you just want to see Angelique Jolie playing Nick Fury with breasts *go see this film*.

On second thought, that last tidbit is nummier on screen than in words. Hmm.

Anyway, solid recommendation here. The plot has holes you could drive a truck through, and some things just make ZERO sense... except in pulp logic. But I, Continuity Boy, didn't care. I was so thrilled to see the... and the... oh, and then there were the...

Oh hell, just go see it.
