Well THAT was freaky...
Oct. 22nd, 2003 03:59 amI'm working late, as usual, in my office, as usual.
Just winding down, and I hear an argument outside my office window. Nothing unusual there, the bars have closed, and I frequently get drunks and such having shouting matches until 4am on most nights. I ignore it.
I realize that this is coming from *right below* my office window though - I'm on what would be the second floor on this side of the building, and there's a construction site just outside. Below, it's just bushes. Then I hear the *CRACK* followed by a yelp, someone running like hell, a voice calling out "BOY! You get back here boy! Don't you run, boy!", and a second set of feet running to beat heck.
I swear to god the crack was a .22 handgun. Not enough roar for even a .38, *maybe* a .32 with a low load, but it sounded just like a .22 to my ear. Just a bit of a *ring* to it that lasted maybe a half heartbeat.
So I just kept my blinds shut, turned off the lights, and called 911. Officers checked it out, didn't find a thing.
Weird.
Think I'll keep the blinds shut.
