Back to life...

So, Grandpa's dead. One of the major figures in my life, gone.

And I'm almost... happy. When Mom gave me the news it was like I'd exhaled a huge breath I didn't know I'd been holding. I realized this morning that this gave me a sense of *rightness* somehow... that while the world seems a bit dimmer because of his going, it released the pain he was in. The balance shifted to the positive because he left behind the good he did, and the influence he had on all of us, but let go of the pain.

He's at peace, and rest, but the lessons he gave me still live on in me.

The world's still a better place for him having been in it.

Timing worked out

Grandma wants to have a memorial for Grandpa (he's being cremated), up the Icicle River valley, at the foot of the Enchantments Ridge range that Grandpa loved so much. When it gets warmer... it's a little chilly up there right now. So she's thinking July.

Surgery is May 23rd. I get my brace off first week of July.

Cool. It worked out anyway.

My Dad just called - he's organized to have Grandpa's ashes dropped over the Enchantment Range on June 23rd.

From the bomb bay of a B-17 WWII bomber... what Grandpa flew.
