So tonight after munching on BBQ'd chicken pizza, and going to see The Bourne Identity (Leah said it was the smartest chase movie she'd seen in a while... which was true, and mildly disappointing. I has hoping for a chasy smart movie, but oh well.), Leah and I stopped by the Reader's Corner bookstore in Raleigh, NC. What's kind of neat about this place is that they have a wall of books outside for after hours purchase, on the honor system. They're either a quarter, or a dime, depending on whether they're on the left or right of the entrance.
So tonight, for a grand total of $2, I grabbed:
- A 1901 printing of Alexander Pope's _The Rape of the Lock, an essay on Man_
- A replacement copy (beat all to hell) of _The Chronicles of Amber, Vol II_ that I had swiped as an undergrad
- A 1961 Scholastic Books publication (remember those?) on the NASA Mercury Project
- Poul Anderson's _Satan's World_, a tale of the Polesotechnic League
- A collection of sf/fantasy written by women title WomanSpace that looks interesting
- Robert Ludlum's _The Parsifal Mosaic_ (hey, we just got out of the Bourne Identity, and it's hardbound)
- Nebula Award Winners, Vol IV (1969)
- _The Firmament of Time_, a collection of 1959 lectures on the evolution of scientific thought and process through the centuries
And here I thought I had a dissertation to finish... :)
