What a day

One of my more productive days in the last few weeks...

Got up a bit later than I intended, at 10, but I didn't get to sleep until 4, so I didn't feel too guilty.

Drove to Chapel Hill (25 miles each way) to my office to pick up a couple of packages that should have arrived yesterday, but were a little delayed.

On the way back, I ran by the last remaining mom and pop shop hardware store in the area to pick up a new toilet flap seal, a latch for the attic door, and a wing nut for the bike rack on my Jeep. Took me five minutes, in and out - couldn't have made it from my car to the front door of one of the ultra-stores. Bleah.

Got home and in the next four hours:

Did two loads of laundry.
Installed two new 80GB drives from package A into FireWire enclosures from package B.
Installed the third 80GB drive in the home server.
Copied over the 13GB of user data from the old drive to the new 80gigger.
Repartioned the 13GB drive for tri-booting, copied over the boot partitions from the 6GB.
Tried the server with each of the 6 and 13GB drives unhooked to see which way was quieter.
Determined that the 6GB drive is only slightly less noisy than a 747, and left it unhooked.
Backed up the 80GB to the two external drives for redundancy.
Installed the new 256MB RAM module in my laptop to replace the 128MB module that went bad. No more data corruption!
Installed the toilet seal to fix a slow leak that's been driving us nuts.
Installed the latch on the attic hatch to seal it airtight, after the heat and humidity buckled the door to create a 1/2" gap.
Oh, and went to the grocery store.

Whew.
