Um, briefly, why comics = superheroes? Comics are a type of media (ie, "book" or "movie"), superheroes a genre, dig? I LOVE comics. I rarely read superhero comics, and even those only when they're really fucked up compared to mainstream superhero comics.
Go grab you some horror comics, some romance comics, some everyday life whateva alternative comics. This is an interesting discussion, but go look what comics they dig in Europe.
