OMG! You *pansies*! :D

I just checked the weather in Seattle, after seeing a lot of posts about it.

91deg. Ouch. That's pretty damned hot for up there.

Then I see the humidity.

**27%**?? You're complaining about **27%**?? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Oh dear god, you poor dears, you have no idea. At that nice dry humidity, sweating still works. Evaporation is efficient. You can cool yourself with a wet towel and a fan quite nicely. Seriously... years of living on the dry hot side of the Cascades, and in Salt Lake City make this a no-brainer: mist yourself with some water in front of a fan, and it will feel 10-15deg cooler almost instantly. Soak a towel in water and toss it on your back while you walk around - same effect. When the humidity is that low, water + moving air = cool. Temperature is easily overcome if the air is dry. When it's humid... not so much.

When the temp is in the 90s, and so is the humidity, *then* you're in deep doodoo. (Actually, that's pretty much what it feels like.... walking through warm poo.) cf: NC, NY.

Go sweat yourself silly, and enjoy the evaporation for those of us who cannot. :P :)

You know, I spent 3 years on the East coast. That doesn't make this "downright pleasant", because it's not. If this here isn't a knife, My. Crocodile Dundee, does that mean you'll stand still while I open a vein on you with it? Because it'll serve perfectly well for that.

See also Dilbert, "head cubicles". Just because you've become acclimatized through years of weather-inflicted abuse to an unreasonable standard doesn't mean *we* should give it any credence. I'm going to stay out here where I don't have to worry about all the lovely weather related nonsense I remember from my 3 years on the East coast and *I'll* be the one pointing and laughing. Enjoy the crowded swamp--I think, and I'm pretty sure there's some evidence to back me, that if anyone's nuts here, it'd be you.

Alright, settle down... first off, the weather out here sucks sweaty, hairy ass. Repeatedly, and often. That's not in doubt. I'll take the NW weather over this any day of the week, month or year. Secondly, who says I've gotten acclimatized to anything? I'm the one who had the heat stroke, remember? I handle heat about as well as a penguin. Because of that, I've had to utilize various approaches to dealing with heat levels that most people don't even notice.

Go back and read what I said - the humidity there is dry enough to use simple evaporation as an effective coping mechanism. I outlined how, based on dealing with relatively dry heat for many years. I only wish those techniques worked here, it'd cut down on my AC bill tremendously.

Frankly, I'm downright jealous of your weather, right now, or pretty much any day. The idea that the humidity would be *that low* on a day of 90-100 sounds like heaven. (To be utterly honest, I really don't like it here - weather, culture, people... there's really nothing but occasional trips to NYC to play to recommend this area. If it weren't for work, there's no way I'd be here. But for short term, I'm trying to enjoy the uniqueness of it.)

Yes, I'm going to point and laugh a bit (in friendly jest), because to be honest, I don't understand the griping. It's hot, yes indeedy... but it's a hot that is manageable with a bit of thought and information. You have the power, knowing is half the battle, transform and roll out, blah blah blah...

Besides, you know it's going to break in a few days, while our weather won't for 2-3 months. So enjoy the uniqueness of it, if nothing else, ferchrissakes.

And drink plenty of water. :)

Right, so yours is in jest, but mine is taking things too seriously.

Adults don't actually have to use smileys to indicate sarcasm, you know. Ambrose Bierce managed somehow. I mean, I referenced Dilbert and Crocodile Dundee, and I'm being too serious? Come on.

On a serious note, what about 90 degree weather is superior to 80 degree weather? In my book, nothing--so it's only heaven if your standards are low (although, I've often said the secret to happiness is low standards.)

(Don't you just *hate* testers? Oh, and don't even get me started about "uniqueness"...)

LOL Alright, alright... hey, I've argued with you *in person*, and it's damned hard to tell when you're kidding and when you're not. :)

Nothing about 90deg is better than 80deg, all else being equal... but I'll take a dry 90 over a humid 80 *ANY* day. It's easier to deal with.

And yes, testers are obnoxious. :D
