[livejournal.com profile] ginkgo and I have an ongoing game we like to call "Fake or Real?" which is exactly what you think it is.

Las Vegas offered an interesting variation. "Fake, Real, or Passing?" I know the Fakes outnumbered the Reals about 8:1, but the Passings may have also outnumbered the Reals in this case. Amazing.

M. and I play an abbreviated version of this game:

G: *drool*

M: Those are fake, you know.

G: Who cares?

Sometimes she will draw my attention to a particularly nice view that she thinks I've missed.

Yeah, ginkgo has corrupted me. I didn't used to be a gawker (I mean, I *looked*, but I didn't *gawk*), but now? I'm so going to get my ass kicked some day. "I was looking at them for my wife! I *SWEAR*!"

Indeed

Moving away from NC intensified my preference for the real. Fake is the norm up here as well - in faces as well as bewbs. Restalyne, silicone, Botox, nothing beats the movement and *aging* of real bodies for me. I want to see someone smile and know that they have smiled during their life.

Yeah, while I am *all* about the cleavage, up here the views tend to be a bit... rigid. There's no *bounce*. And you are so dead right about the faces up here - if they're not scowling, they're locked into a deathmask. :P

I cannot overestimate the utility of wraparound sunglasses, combined with good peripheral vision.

Okay, it being Vegas, I'm left with a question about 'Passing'.

As in 'Passing Attempts at Real with Implants' or 'Passing Attempt at Femininity by Someone Once/Still a Man'?

Like I said, it being Vegas.

In all honesty, until I read the comments I thought your second description was the correct one, not the first.

I use it as an "on the bubble" category. One woman in an "athletic profession" was "passing" until she did a pirouette and her chest spun in two different manners. :D

Vegas is a disturbingly vanilla place. :(

Oh, the latter, definitely. Saw more than a few of those.

Aren't *all* implants an attempt at passing at real? I mean, I don't think anyone gets them with the intent of them *looking* fake, do they?

I was leaning that way as well, but I figured I'd give it the benefit of the doubt.

Frankly, I'm not so sure. Some boob jobs are so screamingly obvious immediately that it's hard to take their owner seriously, no matter how good the surgeon. I have seen a few which I was later informed were deliberately under-inflated so as to leave a more natural feel, in addition to the enhanced look. It depends on to what extremes one wants to go...

True, true... body mods in general are a broad spectrum. I suppose there are folks who go for the Z0MGFAK3!11 look deliberately for the added discrepancy value.

So wait - under-inflated looks more fake? Huh. I would have expected them to look better.

There's the Housewife Boob Job and the Professional Job, IMO and observation. :)

Err, 'enhanced look' as in 'definitely larger than before'. I certainly couldn't tell the difference from where I stood in those cases. I wasn't allowed to do quality-control testing. Strictly for research, you understand. My offers were merely smiled at. *sigh*

I know a few folks, women as well as men, that really, really like the overtly fake look. Balloons, you know. ;)
