Makes you think, about the lives we touch, the chains of events we trigger, all without ever knowing we've done it.
M. and I have been going through old photographs, because we need the space and because the vast majority of the photographs in question are poorly conceived and incompetently executed. As I dumped the first round of culls (hundreds, possibly as many as a thousand prints) into the garbage can, it occurred to me to wonder what the garbage men would think when they saw this--discarding photographs is not something that happens in our society. Would they assume a death or divorce in the family? Would they see Liam playing in the yard and feel sorry for the little boy from the broken home?
Or would they just think, all right, that's the last can on this street. Only three more streets until I get to go home and take a flipping shower?
